The Multipurpose Co operative Society Ltd. (COOP Kuruwita) is located in Kuruwita, Sri Lanka, and was established in 1971. The Society was founded with the primary objective of improving the economic, social, and living standards of its members. Accordingly, all sectors operated by the Society function in compliance with cooperative principles, laws, and policies, following a member centered and responsible approach. Within this framework, the Society undertakes the responsibility of providing services that address the economic, social, and cultural needs of its members as well as the people of the surrounding community.
Kuruwita Various Services Cooperative Society Limited was registered under R/473 as a primary cooperative on 26th February 1971 by merging 09 Kada Samithi in Udapattuwa, Kuruwita Korala.
Membership is open to all individuals without discrimination, allowing anyone who accepts the cooperative values to join freely.
The cooperative provides education and training to members, employees, and the public to promote cooperative values and informed participation.
Members contribute equitably to the capital of the cooperative and share in its economic benefits and responsibilities.
The cooperative is democratically controlled by its members, where every member has an equal right to participate in decision-making.
The cooperative remains autonomous and self-governed, ensuring decisions are made in the best interest of its members and community.
The cooperative works together with other organizations and community groups to strengthen mutual growth and shared development.

The main objective of the association is to improve the economic level, living standards and living environment of its members and the local people by providing necessary services and facilities to them through various sectors of the association, with the main objective of building sustainable development by raising the economic, social and cultural level of its members and the local people.
